NEW HARLEY-DAVIDSON SMART SECURITY SYSTEM IS SELF-ARMING

Milwaukee, Wis. (July 14, 2006) - Harley-Davidson offers its motorcycle owners more convenient protection with the introduction of its Smart Security System ($325) as a factory-installed option for all 2007 Harley-Davidson models. The new security system lives up to its name with the addition of many new, intuitive and rider-friendly features.

For starters, the security fob is now “button-less,” operating the system based on its proximity to the vehicle. It self-arms the system when the ignition is off and self-disarms when the ignition is turned on and the fob is present. The owner no longer has to actively arm or disarm the security system. A distinctive four-way flasher pattern signals when the alarm is armed.

The vehicle behaves just like it has no security system to the owner, while it provides full security against any unauthorized person. The owner possessing the fob knows the new security system is self-armed when the vehicle is parked, and that it self-disarms when the owner handles the vehicle.

When armed, the Smart Security System disables the starter and ignition while monitoring the electrical system and vehicle motion. To reduce the instance of nuisance alarms, warning lights flash and the bike is disabled when it is disturbed. After minor disturbances, the system returns to monitoring. If the fob is lost, the owner can arm or disarm the system using a personal identification number with the turn signal switches. The Smart Security System reduces battery drain when it is armed for an extended period of time. A siren alarm can be added to the Smart Security System as an option.

Harley-Davidson is the only motorcycle manufacturer to offer an original equipment security system, and the new Smart Security System is the only security system designed, approved and warranted for use by Harley-Davidson. In many states, factory installation of the Smart Security System makes the motorcycle eligible for an insurance discount of five percent or more. (HD US) PERFORMANCE PLAYS FOR 2007 HARLEY-DAVIDSON TOURING MODELS Twin Cam 96 Engine Boosts Power, 6-Speed Transmission Lowers Cruising RPM The ride will be that much sweeter for Harley-Davidson Touring motorcycles, which get improved power, performance and comfort for 2007.

With the addition of the new 1584cc Twin Cam 96 engine, 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission, Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI) and a reduction in clutch lever effort, the Touring family of eight motorcycles answers the call for long distance riding.

“The Touring motorcycles provide a purely enjoyable experience on every ride,” said John Baker, Harley-Davidson Marketing Platform Director. “By adding a more powerful engine mated to a new 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission, the ride gets even better with improved acceleration and more relaxed cruising. Combining Harley-Davidson style with these innovations and electronic fuel injection for lower cruising rpm make these bikes tough to beat.”

The Touring models offer plenty of features and style for the open road, including the new Twin Cam 96 engine, 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission, standard EPSFI and redesigned air cleaner. This high level of engine technology provides excellent highway passing power with a smooth feeling ride and reduced clutch lever effort. The Touring family also features a chassis engineered for heavy-duty riding.

In addition, the new engine can easily be upgraded with a 103 cid bolt-on Screamin’ Eagle 103 Big Bore kit from Harley-Davidson Genuine Motor Accessories, which provides additional output to an already powerful engine.

The Touring line has distinctive lineage in its family tree. The three Road King models provide classic cruiser-inspired styling and mechanics that are well-suited to travel highways or boulevards. The five models with full fairings, typically known as “dressers,” present a wide variety of features and functions, always ready for a great day of riding.

Four of the Touring models feature standard accessories like the Advanced Audio System by Harman/Kardon with CD/AM/FM/WB/CD-MP3 sound and function for the base radio and an extensive line of additional options. In addition, these four and all Touring models are suitable for a wide range of customization and creativity. The factory-installed Harley-Davidson Smart Security System, featuring new hands-free fob and auto arming/disarming, is available as an option on all Touring models.

Black, Slotted Disc Cast Aluminum wheels and slash-cut mufflers further emphasize the low profile.
