Would you believe its been TEN years since Michele Smith started hosting American Thunder? Some people in the motorcycle industry have called her an American Motorcycle Icon, The First Lady of Motorcycling, and as one 14 year old put it "She's the 'Pam An' of the motorcycle industry". Michele has changed the stereotypical image of a "Biker Chick" into "Biker Chic" by adding a bit of glamour to the industry.
She started out in the modeling world as a pin-up girl. Most of the jobs she did were sexy-type photos seen in motorcycle calendars, posters, catalogs and magazine covers like Playboy, Muscle and Fitness, Swimwear USA, Swimwear International and Neue Revue.
You may have seen her over the years in commercials, sitcoms ,music videos, The Price is Right or Tim Conway's comedy videos. Also known in Germany as "Heidi" the West Cigarette Girl, she has appeared in commercials as well as billboards and European magazines.
She was spotted on the cover of Easy Riders Roadware clothing catalog and was hired as the host of American Thunder. The rest is history!

Streetwise Motorcyling
The Basic RiderCourse is aimed at beginning riders of all ages. A minimum of seven hours classroom instruction prepares the student for at least eight hours of practical riding in a controlled, off-street environment, typically a parking lot. Motorcycles and helmets are included in your course fee (if any). Most motorcycles used in the course are loaned by local dealers.

How We Started
Jenny Lefferts, President and Founder of MAD Maps, has been a motorcycle and back roads enthusiast for years although her passion began long before she was licensed to ride. Her dad’s idea of a summer vacation was to load up the family in the ’72 VW bus and take to the road. Jenny moved to San Francisco in 1987 and purchased her first motorcycle. She was instantly hooked and began searching the Bay Area for the best scenic roads: the seed for MAD MAPS was planted. A decade later, with the help and hard work of family and friends, she launched MAD MAPS by publishing the first map in the California Dreamin’ series, the San Franciso/Bay Area map.

Over twelve years ago we had an idea. Since that time we have rasied over one million dollars, have had more than 25,000 people attending an event called the Loop for Life. Personally, I would not have expected those numbers which have ultimately provided a significant impact to the charities we have supported.
We have witnessed the good from our donations and efforts which have impacted small children, kids in our community and now adults with a rare genetic disorder. Our hopes are to support research to find a cure for Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia, which long term could cause complete loss of mobility and an inability to walk over a very short period of time.

Today Femmoto is an organization that looks to fill the void for women motorcycle riders who are looking not only to improve their riding skills with on-track instruction, but who need information, contacts, and specialty services/products.
We want to hear from you so we can be informed as to your specific needs.
We want Femmoto be a platform for getting these special wants and needs to the ears of the manufacturers so their products can be more effective, appealing, and useful to us, the women riders. National magazines also need to begin offering more for the woman rider. Femmoto wants to provide input from various sources to help influence this change.
In summary, Femmoto is a grass roots effort to help all women motorcycle riders to get the most enjoyment out of their riding. At this stage we are still in our infancy. With input and interest from our members there will be only improvement and growth in the future.

Ed Youngblood's MotoHistory
Ed Youngblood fell in love with motorcycles as a young boy, and bought his first -- a 165cc Harley-Davidson -- at the age of 14. In the ensuing 45 years, he has owned and ridden a wide range of American, British, European, and Japanese brands. Following graduate studies in English Literature, Youngblood took his first job in the motorcycle industry as a journalist in 1968. After a 28-year career with the American Motorcyclist Association, including 19 years as its president, he left administrative work to focus on writing, historical research, and museum curating and consulting. In addition to his scholastic training, Youngblood brings to his subject a personal experience in many of the topics he writes about.

Some people in the motorcycle industry have called her an American Motorcycle Icon, The First Lady of Motorcycling, and as one 14 year old put it "She's the 'Pam An' of the motorcycle industry". Michele has changed the stereotypical image of a "Biker Chick" into "Biker Chic" by adding a bit of glamour to the industry.
She started out in the modeling world as a pin-up girl. Most of the jobs she did were sexy-type photos seen in motorcycle calendars, posters, catalogs and magazine covers like Playboy, Muscle and Fitness, Swimwear USA, Swimwear International and Neue Revue.
You may have seen her over the years in commercials, sitcoms ,music videos, The Price is Right or Tim Conway's comedy videos. Also known in Germany as "Heidi" the West Cigarette Girl, she has appeared in commercials as well as billboards and European magazines.
She was spotted on the cover of Easy Riders Roadware clothing catalog and was hired as the host of American Thunder. The rest is history!
