Harley-Davidson reports fourth quarter and full year results for 2007

Harley-Davidson, Inc. (NYSE: HOG) today announced its results for the fourth quarter and the year ended December 31, 2007. Revenue for the quarter was $1.39 billion compared to $1.50 billion in the year-ago quarter, a 7.7 percent decline. Net income for the quarter was $186.1 million compared to $252.4 million, down 26.3 percent versus the fourth quarter of 2006. Fourth quarter diluted earnings per share were $0.78, a 19.6 percent decrease compared to $0.97 in the fourth quarter of last year. During the fourth quarter the Company repurchased $153.3 million of its common stock. Read more

The Rider's Perspective:Â If insurance companies really wanted to increase safety they would support laws to ban cell phones use in cars without hands-free devices, ask states to make it illegal to use your rear view mirror to put on make-up while driving faster than 25 mph or ask for enforcement of the existing "passing-lane" laws before trying to require all motorcycle drivers to wear a helmet.Â
Do you seriously think that any helmet would have prevented this guy's death?
